Phone of the Wind at Applewood Our House

By definition, a phone of the wind is an unconnected telephone, often in a booth, installed in various locations for people to have one-way conversations with deceased loved ones. It is inspired by,

“Wind Phone” of Japan. Originally created by garden designer Itaru Sasaki in 2010 in Otsuchi, Japan. After the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, it was opened to the public as a place for healing.

The concept is the act of speaking one’s thoughts into the phone and leaving, allows them to release what’s being held inside. Their words are being carried away by the wind.

The pictured wind phone will be placed in the gorgeous garden at one of the Applewood Our House Memory Care locations. For more information about our partners: https://applewoodourhouse.com/.
